It is part of the human condition to express ourselves through dance and movement and there is a spiritual aspect to the connection between body movement and music. I find this a fascinating concept and, as a visual metaphor for life and relationships, an endless source of inspiration. The small vignettes show the tango salons of Buenos Aires in a playful way; the larger oils have layers which delve into the intricacy of the dance.

This work is an emotional response to my immediate environment. From the joy of a sunlit, verdant paradise to turbulent stormy seas pounding rocky cliffs and moody inner cityscapes casting long winter shadows.

These paintings reflect my interest in the ideals of Buddhist philosophy: wisdom, truth, love, grace, compassion and peace; and portray a sense of being which is timeless. There is a mystery felt in the downcast gaze and there are hints of sadness and loss, but essentially there is a feeling of contemplation and peace.
